On April 5, 2018, the Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA)’s Special Program Support Project (SPSP) hosted a Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) seminar to share tips on how F2F programs can better engage with Missions. A panel of experts provided advice and answered questions on how to better engage Missions and other organizations active in F2F countries. The Feed the Future’s Developing Local Extension Capacity (DLEC) and Integrating Gender and Nutrition within Agricultural Extension Services (INGENAES) projects gathered multiple extension and advisory services (EAS) stakeholders at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. for the Revitalizing Extension for Agricultural Development event, a two-day program to share and cocreate innovative extension solutions that impact smallholder farmers at global scale.

Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), FAW, is an insect native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. Its larval stage (photo) feeds on more than 80 plant species, including maize, rice, sorghum, millet, sugarcane, vegetable crops and cotton. FAW can cause significant yield losses if not well managed. It can have a number of generations per year and the moth can fly up to 100 km per night.
